An email circulated last week unofficially announcing the intention of Laurie Gordon and Nathan Ludlow to run for the Bridgehampton School Board. They are expected to join School Board President Jim Walker in running for the three open seats on the board. District clerk Joyce Crews Manigo said Bridgehampton School graduates Lewis Myrick and Ronnie White had also picked up petitions, but no further information was available about their intentions to run for the board.

Last week school board members Rick Delano and Sue Hiscock both announced their decisions not to seek another term on the school board thereby leaving space for two new Bridgehampton residents to take their places. Delano cited a busy work schedule that took him out of town too often to feel like he could properly fulfill his duties on the board. Hiscock, after nine years of service, wanted to give other people in the community an opportunity to participate.

Laurie Gordon and Nathan Ludlow will not be officially running until they have turned in their petitions on April 20. However, Laurie Gordon in an email exchange did confirm that she will be turning in a petition on Monday, but that she didn’t want to make any formal statements until that time. Ludlow hasn’t confirmed or denied his candidacy.

The email that came from board member Joe Berhalter and was circulated on April 9 stated, “Nathan and Laurie agreed to run… Thank you so much for making the effort to give Bridgehampton kids a better shot at an education and a better life.” It found its way to all the staff of the Bridgehampton School as well as to local newspapers and school families.
